Job Title: Community Mental Health Workers: Supported Independent Living and Community Living Support Programs
Outreach Workers: Homeless Outreach Program
Description: Provides support services to adults with mental illness and to people dealing with homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Employee Category:

Salary Range: As per Collective Agreement – HEU - Community subsector Grid 10
Qualifications: - Three years related experience in the Mental Health field and/or a combination of relevant experience and education with a minimum of one-year direct experience working in mental health and/or community outreach - Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental illness - Familiarity with community resources - Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills - Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team - Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle - Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. - Ability to work flexible hours
Hours of Work: Generally, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May be required to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Progressive Housing employs Community Mental Health and Outreach Workers on an ongoing basis. Unsolicited applications are welcomed.

Applicants are considered on the following basis:

Mental Health workers:

  • Completion of post-secondary education programs in mental health or social services
  • Comparable post secondary education with experience in the field

All applicants must be able to:

  1. Provide a Criminal Record Check and driver's abstract
  2. Provide two (2) work related references
  3. Present a valid driver's license, and must have access to a vehicle

Assets include:

  • Working knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Foodsafe
  • First Aid Certification
